      <description>&lt;p&gt;So far I've only managed to get a few channels working; can't get a decent signal on most of the FTA channels so far.  I've not even tried to get a CAM for it.&lt;/p&gt;

      <description>Hi

I'm considering the same setup as you - i.e. using a technotrend with MythTV with Virgin.  

Did you get the CAM card to work on the Techonorend?  I heard they've tied the card to the STB.

      <title>Not signal strength then..</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;I've realised that I can connect my &lt;acronym title="Set Top Box"&gt;STB&lt;/acronym&gt; to the through port on my &lt;acronym title="Digital Video Broadcasting - Cable"&gt;DVB-C&lt;/acronym&gt; card, and it still receives an excellent signal. I conclude that my cabling is sufficient.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.dvbshop.net/"&gt;DVBShop&lt;/a&gt; say that the Linux drivers don't actually report signal strength correctly.  I don't know if that means that they somehow diminish the actual signal.  It seems unlikely, but I'm no expert.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I suppose I'll have to pull the card out again and put it in a Windows machine to see if the signal is significantly better.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
